Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District #1 (HISID) is a public corporation organized July 2, 1970 under the Arkansas Suburban Improvement District Law to provide Holiday Island with a public road system, water works, sewer system, fire protection facilities, and recreational amenities. A five member Board of Commissioners elected for three-year terms by the property owners governs the community. A District Manager administrates the operations of the District and reports directly to the Board.

The Holiday Island Homeowners Association is a very active organization. Many long and short term projects are tackled by the membership. Some of the significant endeavors include:

Holiday Island, Arkansas is home to a thriving and ever expanding business community featuring restaurants, retail shops, a grocery, hardware store, and discount store as well as many businesses in the service industry. Many of these businesses are members of the Holiday Island Chamber of Commerce.
