Holiday Island Rural Fire District (HIRFD)
|
|
In 2000 the County Judge, in an attempt to provide better service to County residents, realigned the response areas of County Fire departments. Holiday Island was directed to provide service to an area from Leatherwood Creek Bridge on Hwy. 23 No. to the state line and from the Butler Creek Bridge on Hwy. 187 east to CR 219. This also encompasses CR 220 down to CR 246. This area is referred to as the Holiday Island Rural Fire District.
The Holiday Island Fire Department with cooperation from its mutual aid departments will provide service to the rural district. Once your annual dues are paid to HIRFD, you will not be billed for any fire suppression services rendered to you by HIFD or any of our mutual aid agencies as long as you call HIFD first. The proper way to notify HIFD of a fire or any other emergency is to Dial 911.
Annual dues for fire protection within the HIRFD are listed below:
· $25.00 per year for each unimproved property.
· $50.00 per year for property with structures.
Please note: Non-members within the HIRFD - If called we will respond to your location but you will be billed a minimum of $500.00 per occurrence for services rendered in the event of a fire on your property.
All dues collected within the Rural District are spent to improve the Fire Service of the Rural District. With these funds we have purchased two portable water tanks, a tanker truck, and extra hose for drafting. We have updated one of the rural pumpers and built a sub-station east of Holiday Island’s commercial area to improve our response time to the Hwy. 23-north area.
